Apropos of the forthcoming Eastercon, I've been thinking of doing some variant on this image for a while.

Dysprosium - Playmobil

This weekend, C released version 3 of one of the Android apps he's been working on in his spare time. And so I am finally getting around to telling you about it.

Expense Clam is an expense tracking app for Android which has features such as photographing receipts, data export, and automatic currency detection of whatever country you have just traveled to. There are two versions. Expense Clam is free if you are willing to put up with ads after 30 days, and if not, there's the paid version, which costs all of £1.70.

If this might be of use to you - and you have a device running Android* - they are both downloadable from the Android Marketplace.

* Unlike me at this point. Also, yes, the logo could use major improvement, but the rest of it looks pretty good, I think.

Edited to add: If only it were a different kind of shellfish, he could use something like this. But I don't have any Playmobil clams.

The new Playmobil catalog is out! This year's highlight: Ghost Pirates!

The next best thing is the African safari animals. After that, I'm afraid Dragon Land and Underwater Royalty with Carriages Pulled By Seahorses (such as this one) lag behind. (The Dragon's Dungeon does have good cliffy-ness though.)

An axe would have been better, but I only could find a pickaxe or a battle axe. I'd forgotten, at the time, that I have a Playmobil chainsaw which would have worked even better.

For [livejournal.com profile] gillo

I have no idea where I put my waterfall and the rest of the small bird collection is not yielding the robin I know I have. The only way to buy a gull is to buy a whole lot of dolphins too, so I probably won't. Nevertheless, I decided it was time to clear my desk of gathered Playmobil, so here's my first attempt at Tanaqui.

The other day, I noted that the new Playmobil catalog had come out. Several people thus discovered the existence of the Roman set, much of which came out this past July. I only own one thing from this range (so far....), and that's the Roman with the altar. [livejournal.com profile] whatifoundthere didn't notice it, so here are some pictures.

It looks like this:

Shiny, happy altar... )

However, it can be easily adapted to look more like this:

Sacrificial altar... )

Bonus: It comes with a scroll in Real Latin. (This is particularly notable since most Playmobil books and scrolls are written in indecipherably small pseudowriting.)

Latin Practice! - even for those of you who never studied Latin... )
