Chowhound's interface is so aggravating, and it's unfortunate because I think it's got the highest signal-to-noise ratio out there.

When I can be bothered with it, there's always good information buried in there. I know the whole idea of the interface is to be kind to text-only browsers - and heaven knows I appreciate that sentiment - but there are other ways to format discussions and have them be text-friendly.

In contrast, eGullet particularly endears itself to me with email alerts when the threads I'm interested in are updated; much like LJ.
