Worrisome news: World cocoa production could plummet if diseases ravaging South American crops spread to other major cocoa producing regions, UK scientists have warned.

On the bright (if perhaps increasingly expensive) side, cocoa is a good source of antioxidants, perhaps even better than red wine.

must NOW start stockpiling chocolate!!

a substance which is becoming ever more problematic due to the slave labor problem - not really a strong enough word. the atrocity. And while CSI (the TV show) is my source on this - the lead from all the leaded gas used in Africa is supposedly contaminating the cocoa crop as well.
