Oh, wasn't it wonderful, owlfish? I cried at least six different times through the course of the movie - or at least, I had tears running down my face. Other people were absolutely sobbing.
Well, here's what I didn't like: except for that one moment, NO Faramir and Eowyn! No fair! And no Aragorn/Arwen wedding. And I was so sure Frodo was going to do the scary face (like Bilbo did to Frodo in Rivendell) when Sam held the ring out to him in the tower of Cirith Ungol. And at the Cracks of Doom, when Frodo makes his decision, he doesn't change - he should have looked different (as Galadriel did during her decision-making moment, although not necessarily in the same way). Oh, and no marching with orcs - I *know* they filmed that, but I guess it got cut... And why, why did they turn the Great Eye atop Barad-dur into a cheesy lighthouse??
But, here's what I loved: Sam staggering up Mount Doom with Frodo on his back. Eowyn and Merry together in battle. Parts of the "All that is gold does not glitter" poem (hearing that, when I had never expected it, was one thing that made me cry). And Pippin singing. My god, Pippin really singing.
I could go on, but this is supposed to be a comment, not a post... and I have to hurry up and get dressed so I can go see ROTK for the second time!

Pippin singing was beautiful. Have you watched the Two Towers extended? There is another song in there that I found really touching as well...

I have! I even brought it along on this trip so my father could see it.

Send me email at owlfish @ livejournal.com to let me know what email address I should use to send you the details of our trip to England, just in case you wanted to do anything and there was time for it.
