Not a bad movie - it certainly didn't feel as if I was sitting down for 3 and a half hours until I tried standing up afterwards. For the first time in watching these movies, i was sort of sorry I already knew how the plot went. In several instances, it would have been more exciting not to know.
Gimli and Legolas were notably missing in the last 5 minutes, which mildly spoiled my absorption in the farewell sequence.
Merry and Pippin were done justice. I was happy. I would have appreciated Eowyn's big moment better if I hadn't been fretting her expression showed pure fear and not bravery. Oh well. Speaking of which, the Faramir/Eowyn relationship at the end was touched on lightly and appropriately.
I'm quibbling really. I did enjoy the movie! It finished well.

Warning: Major Spoilers Ahead!!
Well, here's what I didn't like: except for that one moment, NO Faramir and Eowyn! No fair! And no Aragorn/Arwen wedding. And I was so sure Frodo was going to do the scary face (like Bilbo did to Frodo in Rivendell) when Sam held the ring out to him in the tower of Cirith Ungol. And at the Cracks of Doom, when Frodo makes his decision, he doesn't change - he should have looked different (as Galadriel did during her decision-making moment, although not necessarily in the same way). Oh, and no marching with orcs - I *know* they filmed that, but I guess it got cut... And why, why did they turn the Great Eye atop Barad-dur into a cheesy lighthouse??
But, here's what I loved: Sam staggering up Mount Doom with Frodo on his back. Eowyn and Merry together in battle. Parts of the "All that is gold does not glitter" poem (hearing that, when I had never expected it, was one thing that made me cry). And Pippin singing. My god, Pippin really singing.
I could go on, but this is supposed to be a comment, not a post... and I have to hurry up and get dressed so I can go see ROTK for the second time!

Didn't it finish well? Right down to the visuals on the end credits. :)
