Clocks are a somewhat arbitrary invention, with their conflated division into Babylonian and equal hours, the whole concept of clockwise and so on. Thanks to a Canadian, we have time zones, and thanks to increasingly international agreement, we have daylight savings time. For once, Europe, the US, and Canada are even changing the clocks on the same weekend.

Shortly after waking up, I realized I hadn't slept the morning away. It was an hour earlier than my clocks said it was, and all thanks to general human and governmental agreements, not the dictates of the seasons and stars at all.

I got up at 12.45 pm today, a thoroughly respectable emergence-time for a sunday, I feel.

I then switched the radio on and found out that I got up an hour too early... :-/

I agree, it's worth sleeping in on weekends. I quite successfully slept in until 12:30 yesterday. On the other hand, I don't really like to do it with both weekend days, so it's just as well that the day I meant to wake up early was the one with clock changes in it.

I had the same epiphany when I woke up half an hour ago, owlfish. I had meant to get up at a decent hour, but I was dreading starting my tech essay so much that I lazed about in bed till 11:15. Imagine my delight when I realized that despite lazing all I wanted, I had really gotten up at 10:15! Go me! (Of course, I still haven't started the essay, but that's beside the point.) Daylight savings time rules!

Oh, and if I actually remember to bring my stupid camera tomorrow *rolls eyes as have forgotten for approx. 26 consecutive days so far* the time change should mean that the beautiful tree I pass every morning will be fully illuminated and I can get a good picture!

Yup, we set ours up last night, and everything was working fine, except for the TV, which is permanently convinced that it's about 10 minutes after everything else.

At least we didn't lose an hour...I dislike that about spring.

Small children unfortunately, pay no attention to clocks and so on and still get up at their usual time. Which with the time falling back an hour equates to 4am.

Ugh.

Thankfully, said small child went back to sleep, but sleeping in for us means getting up around 8am these days;)
