At first, the large Google Chrome advertising campaign on the Underground bothered by because of inconsistent period use: "A new, fast browser. Made for everyone" I know, the second "sentence" is a tag line, the phrases pivoting around that central period. But that lack of a second period annoyed me at first.

Now I just ridicule them whenever I encounter them for the modest number of tabs they boast of using. 12. 14. 21. If I've made it down to a mere 21 tabs, then I have almost nothing open anymore. (I know, I have a tab problem, but they're so very useful for retaining announcement and pages for followup in a place where I won't forget and lose them.)

They're advertising at "normal" browser use, presumably, but if PR campaign for a web browser really wanted to capture my attention with an ad campaign, it would boast of the ease with which it handles hundreds of tabs.

I believe it claims no crashes.

Only if freezing up with anything Flash (or sometimes, just anything flash) doesn't count as crashing.

What I wish for in a browser these days is no memory leaks. Both Firefox and Safari are better than they used to be, but after a day's heavy browser use (or several days, if less intensive), the leaks accumulate and I must close and restart.

Freezing up is mercifully rare these days.

wow -- I generally have no more than 8 tabs open at a time. 10 if I'm doing work that involves translating. I also generally have about 4 apps open at once, sometimes more. But most of the stuff is saved in my address line that I just typ it in when I need it. I find that far easier than looking through tabs for the right one!

I do the same thing...I'll have four or five windows wherein I'll have 20 tabs apiece. To the point where the first thing I do if the computer is running slow is kill all the old windows.

I'm currently running SeaMonkey (the old Mozilla Suite updated to the Firefox back-end) with 56 tabs. Unfortunately, getting a 1920x1200 monitor has just encouraged my tab addiction.

Occasionally I do have a crash/freeze, but now it recovers my tabs and re-opens them, even that's not resetting the situation. I guess it's a good job it's not 64-bit, or I'd be using even more RAM with it.

Also, it sometimes teleports way too many goats.

I can't quote from experience, but while attempting to repair my Google Earth installation I ran into a comment that installing it using Chrome doesn't work. Are they really from the same company?
