I've had reliably speedier experiences sending mail in the UK.

Several years back, when my boyfriend was applying for jobs, one place had provisionally accepted him, but needed a security clearance. He put his birth certificate in an envelope, guessed at the postage, and did not put a return address on the envelope. I panicked. A week or so later, the company sent it back to him, safe and sound.

I would never, ever do that in the US or Canada. Then again, I wouldn't do that in the UK either. They lose mail there too.

what a lucky person. I would never do that, unless I had insured it 5 billion times or something! I just entrusted several items to the British post- let's see how they do with them. The man at the window seemed nice, as usual. I'm rambling, aren't I.

ramble ramble ramble.
