Sofa

We've been in the house for a year-and-a-half or so. We bought the sofa in July.

Yesterday, at long last, the sofa came! It's deeper than I remembered and not as long, but it's comfortable and makes the room look bigger. Choosing a pale neutral was wise; it goes very nicely with the other things the room currently has.

Now if only there was running water this morning.... 12:40 pm and running water is back!

Wow, that's an extraordinarily long time! I ordered my sofa the week before last and they're promising to get it to me by 1 December. Have the suppliers given you a reason for it being such a while?

Yes, the fabric was back-ordered. Indeed, for most of the past few months, we were expecting the sofa in December, so having it come a month sooner was thrilling!

Also, yes, we could have chosen a different fabric, but after the months of decision we put into choosing what we had, it seemed easier to wait on the fabric than attempt to choose again.

Oh, but it's incredibly important to get something that is really right. You're likely to be living with it for a long time, so it's not a decision to be taken in a rush, and it's worthwhile holding out for the right thing even if that does mean a delay in getting it.

I love the sofa so much. It makes the room look bigger, it's comfortable in lots of directions, and we chose wisely on the fabric (which is why it was back-ordered).
