Re: My input on the potato quandry
But I turned on the wrong burner and not the fan, which set off the smoke detector. I fixed that, but in the process have lost track of how long it's cooked for which will require a bit more active attention on my part to the potatoes. I called up to find out when I could go in for my new ISIC card which I suddently realized I Really Ought To Have before it expires, and then couldn't find the old passport-sized photos I knew I had lying around somewhere. I went to turn the boiling water down and the fan up to deal with all the steam - overkill to compensate for turning on the wrong burner - and dropped the oven glove on the mouse poison and the sticky trap. Happily, in the process, my subconscious prodded me with where the photos are, and indeed they were there. It's not really all that bad - I'm just feeling rather clumsy and incompetent today and at this rate, I shall get no Real Work done, which I'd really hoped would happen, but I have to leave for a brief and trivial meeting on campus in an hour. It might actually prove neither brief nor trivial, but there are only 3 of us on this committee, so it better had be so I can make it to my ISIC appointment after all this.
Anyways, packages from the US to Canada can take up to 3 weeks, thanks to the joys of customs, so don't fret if I don't have it before going away. The downstairs neighbors should be kind enough to bring all our mail in and pile it up for us. Which reminds me, I must leave them a note before I head out today.
Packages and Clumsiness
But just in case the rest of your day goes like the first part of the day, remember: Clumsiness is next to godliness!
