We visited Tonbridge for the first time last weekend (not counting all the times I've been through recently on the train to-and-from Canterbury). It felt like a healthy, livable, accessibly-sized town, with both a decent array of shopping, and older elements, such as the motte-and-bailey at the city's center.

Lunch with friends - C. of Withersea, [livejournal.com profile] swisstone, [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray, M. and P. - was the highlight of the day. We also saw about 20 minutes of the town while briefly touring in the dying winter light.
