It looks like a kitchen! The right cabinet arrived today, as did the last appliance. With a minor exception, all the cabinets are in their place. So are the appliances. Today was like Christmas, opening all the boxes. The plumbing and wiring hasn't happened yet, though.

Our kitchen now has a sink, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, and warming drawer. Which one is the only one that's currently usable? Of course it would be the warming drawer. I have high hopes for a working kitchen sink tomorrow, however.

I know! It's so decadent! (It was our "consolation" present to ourselves for giving up the 90 cm range cooker we were originally drooling over, which had three ovens and 90 cm of stove top and was amazing. It took up too much space and we needed storage more. We've ended up with oven, a warming drawer, and a hob that's neither as large as it could have been or as small as they usually are.)

It sounds like it's going to be an absolute DREAM kitchen! I hope you post progress pictures so we can watch it come into completion. :-)

After all the work we've put into it, I really hope it will be! (Except that really, we'd like a larger kitchen.) I've been posting ongoing shots on FB, and was planning on a highlights post on LJ once the kitchen is all done (which, with worktop, will actually be another month...)

I don't know how I missed seeing those shots on FB! Darn new facebook. I do not love it. I bet I can get them via your profile though!

I think I am done waiting at home for packages and appliances to be delivered! Finally!

What on earth is a 'warming drawer'? I'm guessing it's either posh or foreign in origin, but I am curious! :-)

I'm not certain I'd ever heard of one before I started this whole kitchen process. I've certainly never had one, used one, or even played with one before. It's like a large drawer designed to warm things up. (Max temp is something like 85°C.) It's not only good for warming plates and mugs and things, keeping food warm and defrosting, but can be used for slow cooking.

I like slow cooked things when I meant to do it.
