Today begins an adventure. Our kitchen is being ripped out. One wall of cabinets, tiles, oven, hob, and recirculating ventilator is gone (or at least, piled up outside). The tiles practically fell off the wall, they were so marginally attached. The kitchen contents - as little of it as we unpacked, knowing this was coming - are arranged on a bookshelf and in boxes in the living room. The new sink arrived in the mail today. And I'm learning a whole lot about using microwaves.

They must have had trouble fitting the sink through your letterbox. :) (Whenever I head the phrase "in the mail", it always means part of a bundle of envelopes to me.)

Hope the gutting of the kitchen goes smoothly!

"So, what came in the post today?"

"Bills, bills, junk, bills. Oh, look. The kitchen sink! Oh, and a letter."

I wish you Godspeed.

When my mom's kitchen was being ripped out and renovated, she used a combination of takeout and microwave cookery to eat. What she learned is that no matter how good of an idea it might seem, skip trying to make regular pasta in a microwave. At best, it'll take forever.

Yes, I've been living on microwave meals mostly, and being grateful that there's a selection of grocery stores around here to avoid too much dietary monotony! I haven't even tried cooking in the microwave (having never really done so before) - only reheating ready meals.

Glad to know the work begins. We need to do that too. Maybe you will inspire us to take action.

Or put you off doing it, depending on how it goes!
