I've asked before about inexpensive places to stay. This time, I'm asking something more specific: what student halls have you stayed in in London and would recommend? Also, what about hostels?
I know I have this information scattered across emails and comments and I'll go trawling for those too, but thought I might be able to collate the information more efficiently for a soon-to-be-visiting friend from abroad with a post. (And to be really specific: She's looking for something fairly central for a two week stay inJune May. Other answers to these questions, however, are still very welcome as they may be useful for other people.)

The thing that makes it trickier is that I'm actually arriving 14 May and sticking around in London for nearly two weeks, and I think that most universities are still in session then. (It was just when the trip fit best for me this summer, sadly.)
Most of my time will be at the BL, for location preferences, though I certainly don't mind a walk or a tube ride if need be.

Thanks for mentioning it for future peoples's place searches, though!

I'd love to at least be able to wave in your general direction while I'm there, but if you're up for dinner or something one evening, that would fun. I'll be in London 14-26 May.
