I only knew people with cats. Fortunately, Neil Gaiman has a dog.
Tech was generally excellent, but I would have enjoyed China Mieville's talk more had they not been whispering continuously through the whole thing.
My favorite panel of the weekend was one in which five people roleplayed being a book jury.
Tanith Lee is wonderfully enthusiastic.
A recent panto and the Lancashire Hotpots convinced me that I was finally coming to understand enough British culture to get the humor. A concert with Mitch Benn makes me think I haven't been here very long after all.
The academic track was very well attended.
At the end, the con swore fealty to a giant stuffed pig doll. At the time, it made sense.

Over the weekend it snowed, hailed, rain, slushed, and the sun shone brightly.

Ooh. Lucky you, getting to go and hear Neil Gaiman and co. Sounds like fun!

I neglected to mention that Charlie Stross was a GoH too. The con hit a complete home run when it came to GoHs this year. They invited four of them, hoping to get at least one, and all four accepted. It was a very good weekend.

Hello! My boyfriend and I chatted with you over lunch yesterday. Thought I'd come over and say hi. Turns out who we have in common is not so much fandom but some of the London goff crowd. :-)

Hello! No wonder we couldn't easily figure it out at the time. They're all people with SFnal interests, but not the most high profile when at-con. I quite enjoyed the infinities panel, especially since it was funny and had good audience participation. (I crept out a few minutes early when I was struck with a last-minute book buying compulsion.)

You have another link! S and I were at York at the same time...

I thought I saw you there. But the convention was simultaneously so large and so dispersed that finding anyone for a second time unless one had their mobile phone number was almost impossible.

I glimpsed you deep in conversation with a group of people in the lobby. I had a decent chat with [livejournal.com profile] head_gardener though. Having five bars, let alone all the other places one could loiter, did indeed make it rather challenging to see people. I had a good time, but far fewer long, satisfying conversations than usual at such an event, in part because it was so dispersed.
