This past weekend, I attended the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery, a food history conference. I had a wonderful time, and the best part of all were the fundraising souvenirs. This year's symposium was themed "Food and Morality". They'd made fabulous dish towels, one with the tree of vices, the other with the tree of virtues on it. The virtuous dish towel was straight and narrow, while the vicious one was wide!
The inspiration didn't stop there though. They put together an indulgence, a color reproduction of a medieval Oxford-relevant indulgence with a modern codicil to note that attending the symposium would act in lieu of prayer at Christchurch for remission of time in purgatory. Of course I bought one.

Did you notice? I posted a photo. And you know what that means? It means I'm reunited with my digital camera! At long last! (C. cleverly found it. It was hiding in a roller skate. I mean, where else would I have put it? Obvious, really.)

I probably need indulgences more, but that's just a spiritual thing. The conference sounds really cool!
