Today I finished a book. It was about a young man whose parents died around the time he was born. He was raised by his aunt and uncle. Two young men and a young woman have exciting adventures. There was an instructor named Snape who taught teenagers; one of the young men outwits him. It was set in England. It's a story about growing up.
In almost all other respects, The Foundling is an entirely different book than Harry Potter.
Also today -

Also today -
- Elephants talked to me on the telephone.
- I saw mermaids and a unicorn.
- I felt very tiny in close proximity to a blue whale replica. This and the preceding two events were all at the Natural History Museum.
- I ate a lovely lunch with
taldragon,
gandalfgreyhame, and
cynicaloptimist. - I bought an ice cream scoop, which will save any more spoons from sustaining ice cream damage.
- I was lured (rather easily) into my first trip to a Hotel Chocolat outlet. I particularly admired their ingenuity in marking a chocolate tasting for children set.

It seems unlikely that il cigno really talked with gli elefanti whom, as far as I know, you haven't seen or heard from in something like 25 years, but otherwise your statement is cryptic (as surely it is supposed to be; but elephants?)

There were two banks of telephones in the big mammals hall. Three telephones were for Asian Elephants and three were for African elephants. Technically, the elephants were talking to me, not I to them. If you pick up one of the phones, you can hear a recording of the relevant elephant sounds. So I really did pick up a telephone and listen to elephant communication.
Hmm. Perhaps I should correct that to be more accurate in the post.

London
Josie was too tired to listen to elephants, the dinosaurs were too much of a draw, but the T-Rex was way too scary! The blue whale always seems bigger than I remember, Josie wasn't too awed until we walked around it and all she could say was "my legs hurt".
But it was nice to be in London, and it's so quick to get to from here, I don't know why we don't do it more often.
Re: London
My number is here, in case it comes in handy some other time. We really need to make it up to York somewhen soon.
Strangely enough, I've yet to see the dinosaurs at the NHM, although I've heard about the T-Rex.
