Have any of you used LinkIn.com for any purpose? Any opinions on it?

I use it for business networking. It's marginally useful.

I've been using it to network and it's been useful for helping me to get back in touch with some folks that I might not have been able to otherwise.

As a job searching tool ... so far ... meh.

I don't actually find it very useful. I got excited about it at first but it hasn't really served any practical purpose. I think if I worked in certain sectors (banking & investment) it might be more useful.

I have been using LinkedIn for about three years and have found it very useful for professional networking, job searches and staying in contact with former coworkers.

Since I am in sales, I have received a few queries for my product, but not many because of the type of product does not lend itself well to social networking.

However, I have received numerous requests for employment opportunities (about 1-3 a week), one request to author a publication and a few requests for consulting work.

The key to using LinkedIn is to update your profile frequently and contact you list on a regular basis.
