Celebrations, or lack thereof

I celebrated Burns Night yesterday by reading Arabella, but I'll do better on February 6th - newly declared as World Nutella Day!

I'm doing no better for Australia Day today: my plan is to eat American-style food for dinner. Today is also the saint's day of both St. Timothy and Titus. Paul recommended that Timothy stop drinking just water and have some wine. Now there's a day-recommendation I may actually act on.

I went out with [livejournal.com profile] lizw and people for Burns Night; had my first ever real (non-veggie) haggis. I liked it. Coincidentally, I also (accidentally) drank a bottle of Australian lager in the pre-restaurant pub.

Did you get the dinner party invitation I emailed you? No rush for an answer, just wanting to make sure that I had correct email addresses for everyone.

I've tried haggis twice, and have been indifferent both times.

I didn't get the invitation! (I just searched all my mailboxes to be sure, having recently messed up my spam filter again.) How exciting that there is one! sworthen@owlfish.com or my LJ email address. They all go to the same place.

I've re-sent the invitation to that address; let me know if it doesn't arrive!

I think part of the reason I liked the haggis at Buchan's was the really good gravy it came with. I can see it not being very special otherwise.

Is there an "Arabella" by Robert Burns? Google didn't lead me to one (though I did learn that Arabella Burns is a world famous quidditch player).

Not that I know of. I was giving an example of failing to observe a holiday - it's yet another Georgette Heyer novel. (And quite possibly the best I've read yet.)
