Campus is awash with green, manicured gardens, eutrophic ponds, mowed expanses of parkland grass, and muddy paths threaded through forest. Visas open up across a valley to an obelisk on a far hill. I've never been given campus directions before which relied on a cenotaph for way marking.

You never know what might happen next some days. Today, for example, I unexpectedly taught an extra class.

A modest handful showed up for the last class of the day in the trailing afternoon of lowering cloud. With so few, when forthcoming, questioning becomes conversation, and it's so satisfying.

My calves ache. I don't remember teaching affecting my muscles before. Perhaps I walked more than I realized?

Middlesex? Sounds nice. Interestingly I googled "obelisk" and "campus" and it is far from the only possible option in GB!

The obelisk has a starting part in episode one of the first Doctor Who story to introduce Turlow. (might be Englightenment).

And it's a long walk across that campus.
