The other night, I dreamed that I met [livejournal.com profile] truepenny (whom I have never met, nor seen photos of). She had masses of curly grey-black hair, bound back in a bandana, and was wearing the coolest felted knitted torcs, two of them in pastels, around her neck. But really - how nifty would it be to have a golden felted torc to wear? Comfortable, lightweight. It might need internal reinforcement of course - wire, perhaps?

In fact, I can now picture an entire line of period jewelry recreated through knitting - snake arm bands, circlets, "gem-encrusted" bangles...

Surely someone else has already thought of this before.

Knitted jewellery has indeed been thought of, but I'm not sure it's been combined in the way you've mentioned with felting! Sounds quite interesting! Sketch up some ideas and ask your knitting pals to create them. I'd volunteer! ;)

Felted torcs--for the wimpier ones of the Celts!

If you want to experiment with felting, I have lots of fleece.

I'm felting my cat. Not will the fur is still on the cat. I'm saving the stuff I comb off her in a box to see if I can make felt with it.

I always think there has to be something I can create out of all the cat hair and dog hair around here :)
