I'd like to invite you all to attend "Weblogs and the Academy: Internet Presence and Professional Discourse among Medievalists", a roundtable discussion, this Saturday at 3:30 pm at the Kalamazoo Medieval Congress, co-organized by Lisa Carnell and myself.

Schedule participants: Cranky Professor, Digital Medievalist, Lisa Carnell, the moderator of the [livejournal.com profile] medievalstudies community, Travelling Shoes, Unlocked Wordhoard, and Wormtongue and Slugspeak.

If you have any pressing questions you'd like them to discuss, leave me a note before Saturday and I'll see if I can't fit it in. Alternatively, show up and ask them yourself.

Damnit this happens the one year I don't go to K'zoo ;-(

I wonder if anyone would be interested in meeting at New Chaucer Society ... but then there's always next K'zoo. Provided I can get an abstract done for chapter three of my diss way before I write it, I should be there (chapters one and two wouldn't make good K'zoo papers, since one is somewhat of a literature survey and two is solely classical).

K'zoo: annual social reunion. We'll miss you!

P.S. When are you in Paris this summer?

Yeah I'll miss everyone as well, but I just have too much going on right now to go.

I'm flying into Paris May 20th, and we'll probably be there for a few days, and then I'm flying out of Paris June 22nd. Why, will you be around?

I'm not going to the Zoo this year, but give Lisa a hug for me! I'd really love to attend this session, too, darnit. I picked the wrong year to not go.

Oh, I've been sorta' carrying on your legacy, by the way: before I came here, you were sweet and helpful when I was looking for an apartment up here. I gave my contact info to Grace for any incoming MAs who won't be spending time in town for the Latin program, with an invitation to stay at Chez Jan and John during apartment-hunting sessions.

PS - if you meet someone called Thea Todd, from Camosun College or UVic, say "hi." She's giving a paper, I believe, and is a colleague of mine :)

If I run into her, I'd happily do so. She's presenting Friday at 10 am, I see.

P.S. You know I have no elegant way of mentioning that I know you since I only have your LJ name. But that's okay. I can talk to her anyways.

I actually told her to look out for you, and that you knew me as "intertext" - but my real name is Debbie Gascoyne :) (I guess if we're going to meet in London we will be allowed to use real names *grin*)

Nice to meet you!

Tell me if anything about the professional repercussions of blogging comes up.

Sorry to miss you at the conference, but I had neither the money nor the interest this year.

Have fun.

I hope I can get to this on Saturday; I am not sure at the moment whether I am committed to something else yet. I arrived in the Zoo this afternoon, anyway (on the same train as [livejournal.com profile] childeric); hope to see you soon!
