  • The other day I saw the niftiest underground advertisement I've yet seen, at the top of an escalator - an advertisement for a typeface! (For Baskerville)
  • If anyone in London is looking for piano, singing, or music theory lessons, I know a capable instructor looking for work right now. Let me know and I'll pass you on.
  • I've had a lovely visit with [livejournal.com profile] aquitaineq. She's been off gallivanting about southern England with a busy touristic schedule. Tomorrow - so soon! - she leaves. Then again, so do I. Our planes times are such that we'll probably go to the airport together. She's been particularly useful for loaning me new manga to read. Despite the quantity of anime I've seen, I've read very little manga.

Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter if you want. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

[livejournal.com profile] ivpiter gave me the letter G. It's been a challenge.

Grapes - I love fruit, and grapes are one of my favorites snacks at the moment.
Ganache - Chocolate ganache. Mmmm.
Ganesh - At my home in Iowa, we have a running joke about the Chocolate Ganesh hanging on the wall - it's just a normal Ganesh head, but we can't resist the word play.
German - I needed to learn it for reading as a degree requirement, but because I learned languages better when I can speak them, write them, and hear them, I took German 101 with the undergraduates first.
Graduation - I graduate in June!
Grandmothers - I have two wonderful ones.
Gastronomica - The name of a scholarly and literary food-related magazine I subscribed to for a while. It's a lovely journal, but it wasn't urgent for me to pay international shipping rates to receive it after moving to the UK.
Glasgow - I've been there twice in the past year, both times for science fiction/fantasy conventions. On the second trip, I finally allowed a bit of extra time to be a tourist. It wasn't nearly enough time.
Gaspode, Granny Weatherwax, and other Discworld characters - Terry Pratchett is one of the few authors whose books I all still diligently acquire and read. Okay, I haven't gotten Where's my Cow? yet. But I bet I will one of these days.
Gimpel, Gies and Gies - There are very few survey books on the history of medieval technology, but most of them are written by people whose last names start with G.
