Dr. Virago has organized a blogger meetup at Kalamazoo on Thursday night from 5-8 pm. For more details, see her post here. You'll need to email her for the location.

I can't tell you how tickled I was by the cheese-press story. Thanks so much for putting a smile on my face this morning!

I don't think I'll be going to Kalamazoo (though I might be sending cookies to the conference via travelling Torontonians), so you are hereby allowed to buy all the books that I would bought : ) It may not be enough to slake your book-lust, but it's a start.

Your icon is unspeakably awesome. I bow to its awesomeness.

When I saw that I had a comment from 'noncalorsedumor' I thought that your username was pretty awesome, so we're even. I once left a message for my Latin tutor one sticky, horrible Toronto-summer day that said, simply "Non calor est, immo humiditas". Apparently, great minds run along the same gutters, or some such thing...

On a totally different subject (and I could ask [livejournal.com profile] chilperic, I suppose, since you guys know each other IRL), do you pronounce your first name with a long 'A' (as I would expect, since there's only one 'n')?

Yes! It has a long A. Nicely guessed. Most people get it wrong on first try.

I wasn't sure, till I realized you had southern/midwestern roots ;-)

Stilton. Good grief. It's like the Swiss Army Mousterian flints and Vespasian's old dad retiring to become a banker in Switzerland.

VIVA LA CHEESE!

I don't know what it is about cheese archaeology stories that makes me so happy, but whatever it is ... YAY!

ok, I know this isn't directly related to your post. But I'm always forgetting to get stuff done after work. I just wanted to make sure that it's still good for me to visit you and stuff. I uh, was hoping to stay wed night, and I just realized that I will be in london sat, sun, and mon....I just sorta thought of it today and was like, "that sounds long...I hope it's ok..." This trip always seemed so far off that I almost feel unprepared for it. I'll stay out of your hair and I wanna take you out to dinner to thank you and do you want/need anything from the U.S.?
