[livejournal.com profile] cataptromancer asked for a mnemonic to help remember which knight is which in the Knight's Tale (from The Canterbury Tales). This should help, but if a more thorough plot mnemonic is needed, I can work on one of those too.
Arc prayed in (the) park,
but Pal got the gal.

I think the real tricky part is distinguishing their characters in the first part of the story. There's potential in the -mon part of Palamon, I think ... something about moaning about the girl (since he's arguably the more love-stricken one).

Point. Is this more helpful?

Arcite in Athens adores Emilie.
Palamon saw her first, under a tree. (the garden he saw her in was "full of branches green")

Also, going for bad puns and who prays to whom: the Arc of War is no Pal of Venus.

The last half of the second line isn't doing much heavy lifting there. Hmm.

"and still can see." sounds a little dumb, but carries more of the story line in it.
"permanently" has the same problems.

"locked by decree" is a gratuitous rhyme, but emphasizes that he's the one who stays emprisoned; although it does make sound like Emilie's the one who's locked up.
