- Thank you to everyone who recommend translations of Beowulf and Italo Calvino's work. If you haven't responded and have a favorite Don Quixote translation (or further thoughts on translators of Calvino), I'd still be interested in hearing from you.
- Marshall Clagett, historian of ancience and medieval science, has died. (via Cronaca).
- Funniest thing I've read this week: Ninja, the Restaurant (via
cataptromancer) - After
relentless_toil and
a_d_medievalist gushed over Lenny Henry, how could I possibly turn down the chance to hear him interview Neil Gaiman? (7 pm Tues Nov. 8th, near Russell Square, tickets still available if you're interested too. Call Blackwell's ticket hotline - 0845 456 9876.) - I'm off to Paris for the weekend to carve pumpkins.

You're right, he really is wonderful in person. I went to a reading he did when Worldcon was in Toronto, and am looking forward to hearing him again.
Paris was a great deal of fun, thank you!

It was a fabulous event though - and I hope that a tranquil evening was just as wonderful for you. Rest is important.
