I always forget how honestly cheap it is to get maple syrup around here, compared to elsewhere in the world. For us, it's too expensive to get except as a special treat... although when I lived with my parents, we used to get cases of it from our neighbour whose brother had a farm in Quebec somewhere.

So cheap! It's 3 UK pounds for 100 grams in the local supermarket here. I can buy it, at least, if I really need it, but it's so much cheaper in Canada.

At one point last week I was thinking about stopping by the St. Lawrence market where in the past I've seen maple syrup, straight from farms, for sale by the gallon - and priced at something near C$20. In the end, I was unnecessarily worried about weight. Unneccessarily because I really could have fit in my luggage just fine and still come in under weight restrictions. Next time.
