When I told my cousin's boyfriend that I was moving from Toronto to London, he replied that I was moving from a city with bad food to a city with worse. I disagreed.

I was under the impression that I was moving from a city with really good food to a city with great food. He must have eaten at all the wrong restaurants - or been there too long ago.

He's a Toronto resident is he? I can't see how anyone would have sufficient time and money to become tired of the restaurants in London.

No, he lives in Arkansas, althought he has at least been to both Toronto and London in the past, so he was as least speaking from first-hand experience.

London has had good restaurants (if you knew where to look) for as long as I can remember which goes back 30 years or so. Admittedly a lot of pub/hotel food back then was pretty awful.

One of the worst-cooked meals of my life was in Paris, in a student cafeteria.

My recollections of London (like another poster's, about three decades ago): It was easy to find bad food -- but once I knew what I was doing, it was just as easy to find good food.

I was told that I wouldn't be able to eat when I went to England as well. It all depends on what kind of food you like though.

Perhaps said person has been listening to M. Chirac's recent views on English food?

I don't know yet. I have no reason to think he was affected by the attacks, based on times and places, but I haven't been able to reach him yet. He's not at any of his landline numbers and the mobile network is completely jammed up. I'll let you know.
