Howl's Moving Castle (the movie) now has a release date for the U.S.! It'll be opening in limited release on June 10, wide release on June 17th. Hopefully it'll be opening in Canada and the UK around the same time. (Found via a post on [livejournal.com profile] dianawynnejones)

Thank you - and how embarrassing. I can only blame my excitement for leaving out two letters of her name.

Ooh! Thanks for letting us know! If you're still going to be in Canada then, we should go see it together! :)

YAY! I wonder what kind of ad campaign it's going to get, if any...

OMG! There's a Howl's Moving Castle movie! I had no idea - I only discovered Diana Wynne-Jones a year and a half ago, and that is one of my fav books! I'm not oging to be reading lj friends lists for a couple of weeks but keep me updated - I want to know the details!

It's an anime movie, based on HMC, but not literal to the plot. The movie was directed by Hiyao Miyazaki. If you don't know anime, you might not recognize his name - he's one of the most respected anime director out there, and directed both Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.

Diana Wynne Jones has seen the movie and approved of it. From the reviews I've read, it sounds as if the book is generally true to the spirit of the book, if not all the details, nor exactly the same shape of plot. The movie was released in Japan a few months ago and did quite well. And hurray! The rest of us get to see it soon too!
