Staying still

I am so very glad I am not moving this year. It's the first end-of-August I haven't moved in this city, since I've finally found an apartment I like very well indeed. I was reminded of this by the three different brands of moving vans which just drove by the window.

Not moving, alot

Having been an Air Force brat (tm) and then later a college transfer student, I can say that there's a lot to be said for not moving every year or two. The biggest benefit, of course, is not having to change your checkbooks, address labels and whatnot every few months. I've moved one time in the last five years and don't look to move again for another five.

moving out

While you were thinking about not moving, I was involved in moving our late friend's furniture and paintings out of her apartment. Her grandson, girlfriend, and a friend came with a truck and they removed most of the furniture, while the art center crew packed up the eighteen paintings still in the house. By four it was nearly bare. They offered us a few more very handsome Danish chairs. I guess they were right to do this final move quickly and not let it drag on.
