Jasper Fforde, author of the Thursday Next books (most recently, Something Rotten), will be in town next week as part of the International Festival of Authors at the Harbourfront Centre!! I've just booked myself a ticket online for the Monday 8pm reading. The Wednesday 7pm Interview looks likely to be sold out - certainly no tickets are available for it for whatever reason.
Thank you very much to the anonymous commenter who points these events out to me.
There's so much that happens in Toronto, and it's very easy to not notice major events. Speaking of visiting authors, however, I also notice that Tamora Pierce will be doing a reading at 7pm on Friday, November 5th. Anyone interested?

Seriously, have a great time. I expect a full report, however! :-D

Are tickets ridiculously expensive?
Re: Are tickets ridiculously expensive?
If you buy them from the website, they add on all sorts of extra processing charges, so it totals approximately $24. I understand if you don't want to come - also there are two other people doing readings in the same set.

phew!
:-)
When I ordered my tickets I was quite surprised to find the interview was much more booked than the reading. It puzzles me too. Luckily I have tickets to both. To paraphrase from Chico Marx (i.e. Groucho's brother) "I'd give you my seat, except I'm using it"
:-P
I just received my credit card bill on Friday and was shocked to find out what the Harbourfront charged me in "processing fees". I was quite certain they were going to charge an additional $9 (which sounds rather high to begin with) but in fact they ended up adding a $13 charge on top of the ticket price (two $15 tickets cost me $43)! Oh well, I'm not going to let it spoil my fun, next (Next?) time I'm just purchase them in person.
