It is such a happy feeling, is it not, to feel productive? Like you're not stringing words on the page that you're going to delete and rip apart anyway?

I feel happy, relaxed, productive, and ready to start writing one of the two chapters I don't even have a rough draft of yet today.

I met with my advisor to go over job things this morning, and turned in my chapter while there. I told him how I was happy with my writing, and he gently reprimanded me: he's rather have me be finished than writing nicely-written chapters. Of course, ideally I can have both. At least one of my chapters will be respectable, and I have reasonable hopes that the rest may yet be too.
