Heheh, typo in my answer where I explain how accurate I am ;) How ironic.

For reference (in caes you didn't know), you can change (and therefore correct) your answers to polls by clicking on the poll number, then "Fill in Answers", but for the purposes of this poll, I like your comment better. I find I tend to type correctly-spelled words, if wrongly worded for the sentence, when my mind's on the content of what I'm typing and not on what's actually coming out from my fingertips.

Thanks, I didn't know you could do that! In this case, I think what happened was that I added in the word "reasonably" after I'd already finished the thought, and was just in a hurry to post it.

Does a Baudot teletype machine count as a typewriter? It's keyboard layout is somewhat similar to one, though all the alphabet characters are upper case and many punctuation characters are missing while others are only available by using a quasi-shift-lock sequence. If so that's where I first used a keyboard for typing messages to my amateur radio friends back in 1970.

In short, I'm happy to count it as a typewriter if you are.

I thought it would dangerous to survey keyboard layouts, as many people aren't conscious of all the options and styles. Does a split-Qwerty count separately from a regular qwerty from an extended-keyboard? French and British keyboards are most similar, but different in small and unexpected ways - British punctuation is often not where you'd expect on a keyboard.

I remember using a very early typing teacher program in elementary school called "Paws Teaches Typing". Paws was an animated kitty who shared his love of correct typnig with the user. There were games and finger exercises. I probably learned more from Mavix Beacon, but Paws was my first typing instructor. ^-^;;

And, there's a typo! Evidently, I am still learning. ;-)
