What happened in the US today that I missed? A bomb threat? Is there a visiting dignitary in Toronto? I have never seen such security around the U.S. consulate

I wonder if it's not because we're coming up to the 4th (oh and the first, too, *g*)

Not a very well-thought-out comment, this--but the traffic and the low-down-ness when you're in traffic is something I truly don't like about the city where I was born ... ;

I was expecting slow traffic, although not quite as slow as it was. I had a seat and mp3 player music to listen to - plus I could occasionally join in with conversations around me. For the better part of ten minutes, the streetcar was going slowly enough that a young man undressed to the degree you'd normally only ever see in the Pride parade was keeping up with us - and that kept most people occupied for a while. We also had a Portugal fan onboard, which would have been somewhat more entertaining had her yells not been so deafening.

While I won't blame traffic for boredom (and to be fair, it's not usually NEARLY this bad), I will blame its time-consumingness for my failure to give you my much-overdue response today - I'll try harder tomorrow.

Happy first!
