A safe trip to all of you travelling to Kalamazoo this week, by whatever means. I hope to see many of you in the near future!

My conference paper and my overheads are ready enough. I'm giving a paper on the use of eyeglasses by craftsmen on Friday at 1:30 if any of you are interested.

I've seen lousy reproductions of it before, but yours is better. Thank you for pointing those out to me. I have a few pictures of toy windmills collected so far, but most are isolated in marginalia, not tied into a larger scene like this one. Most of them are interpreted as representing folly, since although the wind turns the wheel, no work is performed as a consequence. On the other hand, I have one art historical article analyzing one image of a kid carrying a toy windmill as being a Christ figure, in the tradition of the Mystic (Eucharistic) mill.

Your non-LJ weblog doesn't produce an RSS feed currently, does it?

Well, I would like that, but I don't want to put you to any trouble. You have enough on your plate as it is.

You might think about setting up a little camcorder when you make presentations, for your own review, and maybe for posterity.

Thank you!

I don't currently own a camcorder. If I did, I might consider doing so. Recording a lecture now and again would be a good way to get a more objective sense of how I give talks and what I do and don't like about that. I know it's a method often used in courses on how to teach.

More unfortunately, it's very occasionally used by search committees as part of the screening process.
