Thanks to sudden inspiration and C.'s learned camera skills, I have a lovely new Playmobil owlfish icon, my third icon ever. I think it turned out quite nicely, white balance, exposure length and everything else C. adjusted to make it just right.

Allow me to compliment you on its cute-iosity. I especially like the little lily pads.

I'm glad you like the lily pads - it looked a little dull without them. I left out the frog which often sits on the lily pads since, by the standards of other Playmobil animals, the frog is a relatively indistinct lump of plastic.

White Owl: What is it?
Brown Owl: Well... it sort of looks like a fish...
White Owl: Don't fish tend to have a bit more well... flesh on them?
Brown Owl: Perhaps it was feeling hot.
White Owl: And took its flesh off to cool down?
Brown Owl: Yeah, possibly.
White Owl: Hey, fish! Do you want to play with us?
...
Brown Owl: Perhaps it's sleeping?
White Owl: Ah, that'd be why it's on its side then!

I knew something was happening in that picture! Thank you for figuring out the plot for me.

That is awesome. It's even more awesome than your last one, which I thought was pretty cool. But it's Playmobil. And Playmobil RULES. And you did it yourself!

Thank you!

This one is much more deliberate than the last one, which was a tiny deail from the background of a photo focused on something else entirely. This one was a whole photo in its own right. Hey, if you have more Playmobil than you can shake a stick at you might as well make use of it, I figured.

I knew your username looked familiar, and having gone to investigate, I now know via whom. I'm pretty sure we briefly met at least once or twice, and I have a suspicion that it was your plant-filled apartment which Maura was plant-sitting when we stopped by it.

Well, that seems like a high probability (that it was my plant-filled apartment that Maura was visiting to plant-sit). I think we *have* met once or twice in passing. Probably at a Maura party. Unless you actually visited her during the year we were roommates, in which case I'm *totally* spacing on it. Which isn't that unusual for me. It's just one of those odd situations in which you aren't sure how often you've actually met a person, or if you merely think you have because a mutual acquaintance has talked about the person often enough.

Somehow, the fact that Playmobil makes owls seems a little more expected than the fact they make fish skeletons. There are owls in a number of their sets - I'm fairly certain that these two came from different sets.

I love it! The little owls look so philosophical. ^-^;;

Their thoughtful look on the subject of death half makes me think I should do a Playmobil vanitas image (you know - an image on the line 'vanity of vanities, all is vanity'): I have a skull, some fish skeletons, flowers which I can make look less healthy, and a translucent glass bottle that could double as a bubble under the circumstances. My mother would probably particularly appreciate it - years ago she did a vanitas print.

Playmobil can be used in remarkably sophisticated ways - my favorite was the tarot cards someone posted online a year or so ago. I saved all the images at the time, I loved them so much - it looks as if the site isn't up anymore though. Hopefully it's just temporarily down.
