I'm reminded of when I came face to face at a conference with a gentleman whose name I instantly recognised, but I couldn't for the life of me remember which of the papers I'd been reading recently were his.

Unfortunately I'd greeted him enthusiastically before realising this fact, and we both stood there embarrased for a couple of seconds before going our separate ways. (I hope he doesn't remember!)
