Proof I don't know much about oranges: I bought a dozen of the wrong kind of oranges to use with my lovely new juicing device. Navel oranges have pathetic amounts of juice in them.

What kinds of oranges should I be using?

Valencias, if you can get them.

It's easier here in Spain - the oranges from Valencia come in a string bag with a note telling you they are good for making juice!

Actually Shana, I'm disappointed and surprised you don't know all there is to know about orange juice after that enlightening "thesis presentation" we went to at Hampshire College way back when.

But seriously, usually when you go to the grocery store they have a kind of orange labeled "juice oranges". And blood oranges are good if you can get them and they don't cost too much. Don't despair because navels are really good to just eat.
