I looked through the city's free newspaper today and determined that I'd already read about all the interesting news thanks to updates courtesy of LJ friends: [livejournal.com profile] tammabanana for NaNoWriMo, [livejournal.com profile] curtana for the latest on Chaucer and the British Library, [livejournal.com profile] paladyn for the latest on Iraq, and [livejournal.com profile] hilly02 for burning edge California fire updates. Oh, and the release of Panther, covered in great detail off-LJ by Dive into Mark. Between them, they didn't miss much.

No one mentioned Sarah MacLachlan's comeback album, or that bubblegum just turned 75 years old though, so maybe newspapers are still useful after all.

Update: In other news, I just learned that Canada is now hosting the world Rock, Paper, Scissors championships, for the largest RPS purse ever.

Well, I just learned about Sarah MacLachlan's album through your post, so... :)

My point exactly!

And did you know that the Double Bubble brand is now owned by a Toronto-based company?

Heh. I knew about MacLachlan because I'm on Nettwerk's mailing list. The e-mail included dates for some TV appearances. Lemme know if you're interested. It would be easy enough to paste in the info.

I appreciate the offer but 1) I don't have a tv and 2) I'm actually only mildly interested in MacLachlan's work. I might really like some of her songs, but offhand, I can't remember what any of them are. I have a frequently poor memory for connecting songs to artists.
