Much as I admire the flexibility of being able to use a wireless Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with a computer... why would you want to do so 30 feet away from it?

Someday soon...

My brother regularly uses his 43-inch TV as his computer monitor, and sits 10-15 feet back using his wireless keyboard and mouse. 30' seems a little high even for him, though.

Its actually paving the way for wireless flatscreen technology. I personally like the idea of screen glasses but it's going to be the wireless flatscreen that you can sit with 30 feet away from the cpu.

More seriously though, at work we have a smartboard projector set up. The keyboard barely works 3 feet away from the CPU.. being able to move the keyboard 30 feet away would be a huge benefit.

That makes more sense. But it would have to be a big flatscreen, more like the flatscreen tvs of today than the LCD displays in current use - unless somehow enough demand brough the high price of making flatscreens down further.

If you only have a 3 foot range, then of course it would be good to have more - but you'd probably find 15 feet good enough for most purposes. Still, better to overcompensate, I guess, than provide too little distance!

Ooh! I was wondering about those. 30 feet? Neat!

I'm building a home entertainment/multimedia PC to replace the stereo, casette player, cd player, dvd player and VCR. It'll be on the household LAN with access to my file server, webserver, email server and of course the internet.

I think a 30' range keyboard and mouse would be perfect. World's most complicated remote control. :)

Bluetooth is good for being able to toggle between different equiptment and would be fabulous as the ultimate remote control! What a nifty setup that'll be when it's complete.

Wonder when they will come out with totally computerless keyboards.

It's possible to buy non-physical keyboards already. Here's the article I read on the subject last year.

It also depends on how you'd like to be able to input data. Voice recognition technology has greatly improved, but it's not fabulous. Still, most of the main commercial OS today come with handicap accessibility that allow the user to control many of the computer's functions with spoken commands.
