Technology and Culture is the academic journal of the Society for the History of Technology. The current issue features, among other things, an essay reexamining Lynn White's Medieval Technology and Social Change. It surveys the strengths and major criticisms of the book. It concludes that no better book has yet been written to replace White's work, but that judicious warnings, plus a perusal of a particular article written by B. Hall would give an appropriate perspective on the work.

It then refers to my advisor as a "prudent and seasoned academic."

There's an academic compliment worth aspiring to.
