- Campus is awash with green, manicured gardens, eutrophic ponds, mowed expanses of parkland grass, and muddy paths threaded through forest. Visas open up across a valley to an obelisk on a far hill. I've never been given campus directions before which relied on a cenotaph for way marking.
- You never know what might happen next some days. Today, for example, I unexpectedly taught an extra class.
- A modest handful showed up for the last class of the day in the trailing afternoon of lowering cloud. With so few, when forthcoming, questioning becomes conversation, and it's so satisfying.
- My calves ache. I don't remember teaching affecting my muscles before. Perhaps I walked more than I realized?
