The box of books I ordered last week arrived at just the right time: my editing spirits were lagging in the final stretch of editing the last chapter. And then my box arrived to perk me up and give me reading to look forward to. The books are a combination of food literature and academic. (Finally! My own copy of the Psychomachia and Seznac's Survival of the Pagan Gods!)

Current frustration: there are histories of saddles and bridles and bits and all sorts of other horse-managing equipment out there. There's practically nothing on spurs, or, if there is, I can't find it.

I have footnotes to fill in. I have a brief introduction and conclusion to write. I have so much more fleshing-out of arguments I want to do. I've somehow managed to edit out all mentions of Froissart, and he needs to be in there somewhere. I need to organized and label all the imagery.

But I'm done with the worst of the editing and, even if I have several more rounds of revision and changes left to make in the weeks and months to come - for the first time in this whole process, I feel like I've accomplished something. It might not be quite done yet - but I've written a dissertation.
