owlfish at 06:14pm on 25/08/2003I turned in another partial chapter draft this morning. My trip to the Ex was sacrificed to the dissertation, but hopefully it will have been worth it. I'd better be able to go next year. At least I can watch lovely fireworks from home every night for two weeks running, and that's a pretty wonderful experience!
Tonight will be a frenzy of cleaning in advance of our incoming houseguests.
I bought some small purple chrysanthemums and ornamental peppers to fill in the gaps in the boxes where things have died or been trampled by racoons. C.'s mother is an ardent gardener and while my box garden isn't overwhelming, I'd like it to at least be presentable. Anyways, this way I get to look at pretty growing things with flowers.

i did some desperate last-minute plant shopping right before my mother visited, too-- not because i didn't have plenty of healthy plants on my balcony, but i didn't have anything that was flowering or decorative.
