The movie was fun, not high art, but certainly enjoyable. I'm not sure I liked the video game character with a partner, but I certainly understood the motivation in including him. Still, if he was meant to be her guide, why did she never listen to him? (That was C.'s complaint.)

I'm still trying to get my mind around one line from the movie, however: "This is the greatest discovery since the pyramids."

I especially loved the climactic kiss at the end. You know, nothing says romance better than standing next to a pool of black acidic goo... ;)

Haven't seen the new one yet, but I went to see the first film a couple of years ago with [livejournal.com profile] sushidog and [livejournal.com profile] steer. The post-film conversation went something like:

me: Well I liked that. Lots of footage of Angelina Jolie somersaulting around and shooting things.

sushidog: What I don't understand, right, is why didn't her father tell the solicitor to send her the letter a couple of weeks earlier, so she could have had more time to prepare?

me: The somersaulting? The guns...?

steer: And another thing... why [more plot dissection]?

me: Some of it was in slow-motion. I liked the robot, too.
