My computer is going to be repaired, but it will cost half of what the machine cost in the first place. Still, that's cheaper than buying an entirely new machine, presuming there are no more complications with this particular computer for at least the next year or two.
In other news, I have located my parents, and was awarded the research grant I applied for last month!

Any plans for July 4th? I hear that's when the Americans head north across the border and spend lots of Money. Or maybe that was just what the radio advert was trying to tell me to think...

I very, very subtly dressed in red-white-blue and, thanks to a friend's last minute planning on our behalf, we hosted a barbecue out on the deck. It's about time we did too. The barbecue equiptment came with the apartment and we'd never actually used it. Afterwards we toasted marshmallows on the chimenea.
