C. helpfully edited my dissertation abstract, but I can't decipher all of his comments. Surely he didn't suggest that I write, "Conclusions from this research will lead to better candles..."

Clearly, my paleography skills aren't up to snuff. That, or I need to learn how to make candles.

Why is it, that many academic professionals, doctors and teachers alike, have horrific handwriting? Or else insist on writing in pencil, then xeroxing? I shall never know.

Any chance you'll ever come BC-wards? ;-)

Actually, my boyfriend doesn't have the excuse of being an academic professional. He's fabulous at editing numbers, pretty good at editing content, and lousy at editing grammar or spelling. His excuse is that he types if wants people to read what he writes. He works in IT.

There's a very, very good chance I'm coming BC-wards! [livejournal.com profile] kashmera, a friend of Colin's and mine from England is doing her postdoc in Vancouver, so we already had plans to go somewhen in the nearish future (i.e. maybe before the end of summer, but definitely in the next year). That, and I've heard so many very lovely things about it. Where are you in the province?

I should also mention that I did eventually figure out what the word that looked like "candles" actually was: "under" as in, the first half of the word "understanding."
