Turkey wins.
Belgium's second with a nifty ethnic-style song.

The UK? Nil points!!!!

No, that's already finished.

Now I'm watching the press conference being held post-Eurovision. Which is much less entertaining, but features the occasional glass of champagne, Belgian chocolates, and interviews with people who've already had something to drink tonight.

This is the third or fourth year running I've watched it, all of them streamed online. Part of the fun is writing down song-by-song critiques to know which songs to cheer or boo during the voting. It's also interesting to watch people vote for their neighbors. Or things with potential political aspects, such as the fact that this was the first year Cyprus gave votes to Turkey. Or the possibility that the UK was the only country this year to receive zero points because not only did they have a mediocre song which was not very well performed, but the possibility that it might be war-related voting too. I also like seeing the way in which the host country chooses to advertise itself.

Sure there's lousy music in it, (there's decent as well), but part of the fun is in dissecting why it's bad. I don't make a habit of this - just for Eurovision. I did actively like some of the music - Belgium and Germany were the two I was rooting for during voting.
