The sky was full of fireworks tonight, all around. We went up on the roof deck and watched for a while. There were fireworks from every direction. I'd estamate they came from at least 40 or 50 different yards, but most came from about six parks and schools nearby. Whizzy white spirals. Green and blue popping ones. Violet starbursts.
The main fireworks for the city were miles away, on the opposite side of downtown, so we didn't stand a chance at seeing them from home. Still, it certainly was lovely to see the city alive with the sparkle of controlled fire.

fireworks and thoughts
I always seem to be in odd locations for the Fourth, where I don't get to see any fireworks: Maine, Montana, Alaska (although Alaska was cool because the sun never set that night), England, etc.
Well at least I got to watch Bonfire Night.

Re: fireworks and thoughts
Clearly you know about the incident with the little girl who was murdered in Ontario lately; how come none of the American news sites aren't covering it? I read it on an international web news site and it's a horrible tragic story.
Has there been much discussion and fear in Toronto about this psychotic bastard who goes around killing and mutilating children?
People like that should be shot, immediately.

(Thank you! I will happily discuss politics as long as no one tries to persuade me that they are right, and that I am wrong/stupid/ignorant etc. and as long as both make a real attempt to understand the other. Thus I don't usually discuss politics at all since way too many people immediately lapse into Vicious Debate mode.)

I'm having a cat day, where I just lie around all day and stretch occasionally.
Re: fireworks and thoughts
just wanted to let you know that your thinking is correct-- canada doesn't have the death penalty.
i don't think the papers or media here have been covering the murder you're speaking of at all. i don't read them much anymore since they've degenerated so badly, but i picked one up a bit ago and there was, perhaps, a total of maybe three column-inches on canada in the whole thing. and since all the media conglomerates do is exist to sell us useless junk and push the party line, there's not much room for stories on folks getting murdered in a country that didn't support The War.
sorry. this is a sore spot for me. anyway. i liked your sisterly ode, btw.
