It's pouring rain here today, with a fair dose of wind gusts thrown in. More interesting than most anonymous rainstorms, this one has a better-known story. It's what's left of Hurricane Irene, having traveled up the US, across Canada, and all the way over the north of the Atlantic.

We didn't dare go into the woods this morning, the trees were creaking in the wind. And there were a couple of odd twigs from one of our neighbours trees on the driveway.

hahahaha Just a little while back a coworker had commented that downpours lke that would be expected to have a name in (parts of) the USA.

so i've just informed him that apparently this one actually did!

(I had previously told him that the part of the USa I'm from is too far inland for me to have expectations of stormy weather coming with names attached lodged in my psyche)
